Jeffrey J. Trester holds an S.B. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, attended Yale University for doctoral studies in physics, and received his Ph.D. in financial economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His scholarly writings have been published in the Physical Review, the Astrophysical Journal, the American Journal of Physics, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, European Financial Management, Applied Economics  and the Journal of Portfolio Management. He co-founded a pioneering Internet firm. He  is an independent economist and investor who has served on the Business Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and whose commentary has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg, CNBC, PRI, Der Spiegel and other media.

He is also the author of Obscene Gestures of an Invisible Hand – Financial Doom and the Death of Culture: The Lighter Side, available in paperback and Kindle format.
